Over five immersive days, your young artist will step back in time to explore the rich visual world of the Medieval and Renaissance eras... where dragons roamed, knights stood tall, and art told stories of epic proportions.
From illuminated manuscripts and royal crests to stained glass designs and fantasy landscapes, each session brings a new creative challenge inspired by centuries-old traditions. Campers will experiment with texture, symbolism, and storytelling as they craft their own masterpieces fit for a castle wall.

The Medieval and Renaissance periods are rich with visual storytelling, craftsmanship, and symbolism that still influence art today. In this camp, your child will explore how artists used color, pattern, texture, and meaning to communicate ideas long before modern tools existed. From royal crests and illuminated manuscripts to stained glass designs and myth-inspired imagery, campers will learn how art reflected power, belief, and daily life. Along the way, they’ll develop patience, problem-solving skills, and a deeper appreciation for art as both expression and storytelling. And of course... we’ll keep it fun.
What’s Included?
- Hands-On Learning: Campers will work on a variety of art projects using different materials and techniques inspired by Medieval and Renaissance art. They’ll create pieces influenced by heraldry, mosaic-style designs, metallic textures, and fantasy-inspired imagery while developing their own artistic style.
- Exploration of Art History: Young artists will take a creative journey through time, learning how art evolved from the Medieval period into the Renaissance. They’ll explore how artists used symbolism, geometry, and craftsmanship to tell stories and represent the world around them—then apply those ideas to their own original works.
- Nature and Art: Like the artists of old who drew inspiration from gardens, forests, and wild creatures, campers will enjoy a nature walk along the Acequia behind Canvas and Coffee. They'll observe shapes, patterns, and textures in the natural world, using what they see to spark ideas and enrich their medieval-themed creations.
- Nutritious Snacks: Each day, we provide fun and nutritious snacks to keep our young artists energized, focused, and ready to create.
